Annular solar eclipse occurs when the moon covers the centre of the sun, leaving the sun’s outer edges to form a “ring of fire”
In India, however, a partial solar eclipse was visible. It started around 8:00 am and lasted till 11:05 am

8 ft tallest Natarajar at Koneri Rajapuram
26.12.2019
This is said to be world’s biggest and tallest Nataraja sculpture made of panchaloka metal (five metals).
This Lord Nataraja is seen like a human , with mole in His left armpit and the sword cut mark in His lifted left leg.
Uma Maheswarar Temple is a historical temple dedicated to Shiva. Shiva is worshiped as Uma Maheswarar, and his consort Parvati is depicted as Mattuvar Kuzhalammai
History:According to legend, King Varaguna Pandya wanted to create a huge life-size Natarajar idol and ordered to his sculptor (“Sthapathi” in Tamil) to prepare it in metal. Despite his continuous efforts, the sculptor was unable to make an idol taller than 3 feet. The king gave him some more time to work on the idol but warned him that if he did not accomplish his task before the deadline, his head would be chopped off. As the deadline approached, the worried and frantic sculptor prayed to Lord Shiva for help. Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi came to his house in the form of an elderly couple and asked for little water to drink. The sculptor was engrossed in his work and out of frustration, he told them to drink the molten metal (“pancha lokam” – an amalgamation of five different metals). Both Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathy drank it and they instantly turned into a beautiful statue of Natarajar and Sivakami. This idol of Natarajar with Goddess Parvathi is about 7 feet high. It was then that the sculptor realized that the aged couple had been none other than Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathy.
On hearing about this incident, the king visited the sculptor’s place but he refused to believe the story. He hit the idol with his sword and to his astonishment, the idol started bleeding. The king surrendered to the lord and asked for forgiveness. The idol still bears the mark of the king’s sword. Another interesting thing to note about it is its life-like appearances – fingernails, a mole in the body and fingerprints in the hands.

Venni Karumbeswarar Temple is a Hindu temple located at Koilvenni in Tiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu, India. The temple is dedicated to Shiva, as the moolavar presiding deity, in his manifestation as Karumbeswarar. His consort, Parvati, is known as Soundaranayagi. The historical name of the place is Tiruvenni.[
It is one of the shrines of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams - Shiva Sthalams glorified in the early medieval Tevaram poems by Tamil Saivite Nayanars Tirugnanasambandar and Tirunavukkarasar. It is also believed that patients suffering from diabetes will be cured of the disease if they make an offering of sugar to the main deity at this temple."Karumbu" in Tamil means sugarcane and the main linga is in the form of a bunch of sugarcane stems tied together
According to the Poruṇarāṟṟuppaṭai, Karikala Chola fought a great Battle of Venni in which both Pandyan and Cheran kings suffered a defeat. Venni was the watershed in the career of Karikala which established him firmly on his throne and secured for him some sort of hegemony among the three crowned monarchs. Venni is also known as Vennipparandalai and now it is known as Kovilvenni and is situated near Thanjavur.
This is the birth place of noted Sangam poet Venni kuyathiar belonging to sangam age. One of her Purananuru song mentions war of Karikal Chola known as Venni Por
