There are many inscriptions of Pallavas, Cholas, Pandiyas and Vijayanagar empire. It is said that author of great Tamil grammer "Nannool" lived here during Kulothunga Chola III. Futher Thiruparuthi Kundram was considered one of the four seats of Jain learning in India.
This beautiful temple is maintained by the State Archaelogical Dept.
