Yercaud is the jewel of Shevaroy Hills, Eastern Ghats, Tamil Nadu, It is at anattitude of 1515 metre (4970 ft) above the mean sea level.One of the most attractive tourist spots is Lady’s seat . Lady’s Seat is a rock in the form of a seat that overlooks Salem town as well as the numerous hairpin bends along the road leading to Yercaud. In addition, the place also houses a viewing tower, which is equipped with a telescope so as to enjoy the beautiful view of Mettur Dam and Salem town. On a clear day, you could also see the Mettur Dam on the Cauvery river. Great shots of the river can be had in the evening around 3:00 clock when the sun rays are reflected in its waters. This view is spectacular at night with the twinkling lights of Salem town in sight. It gives a feeling of looking over a bed of twinkling diamonds and if You are lucky to have a moonlit night..nothing could be more romantic!
It became very popular after release of the film Manthiri Kumari climax scene ,long time back with the song,"வாராய் நீ வாராய் "

It is also called as gents seat. This has four piles of stones arranged so as to form a pyramid shape. It is said to be built by the local tribes and now there is a Rama temple located between the piles of stones.
