Back in early August, I took a trip to Mt Vernon (south of DC & Alexandria VA) to see if it was a good trip to take with the Seventh Grade at my school. My sister and I spent a wonderful three hours and we only skimmed through all there was to see and do there. Decided it would be a great trip for the girls at school. This past Friday was our trip day and it was also a day of torrential rains (2-5 inches in the Balto/DC area). Made for an even more memorable trip.
I will be mixing my pictures from the two visits & it will be easy to tell them apart.

This is a facinating process that was used to make wood homes look like stone. During the work this summer, they went back to using the color of sand that was used during George's day. Thus, the mansion now is tan rather than white, all due to the color of the sand & not the paint.
