We're hoping the vet tells us we can stop the syringe feeding when we go for Jonah's appointment on Tuesday the 16th.

Saturday morning update: He seems to be doing much better. He was happy to see me, purring the entire time. It was hard to get a video of him because he wouldn't hold still! Mostly he wanted down from the table and TO GO HOME!! He was annoyed and totally disgusted at all the tubes running in and out of him. His pupils are still dilated but he seems more awake and VERY interested in everything going on around him. The plan is to remove the catheter on Monday morning. I think it will work this time!!

Thank you to all my contacts and friends and admirers of Jonah for all your support over the past few days. Although the ordeal is not yet over I am finally feeling hopeful. Could not have done it without all of you! Thank you so much!!

Monday update:
The catheter was finally removed but it had to be done surgically as it was totally stuck. Bladder stones were found and removed and he had the Perineal Urethrostomy operation. He is now in recovery and I'll be able to see him later this afternoon. Can anything else go wrong?

Most of what you see now is scabbing and bruising. He is not able to clean himself so I use a warm compress on his bottom to keep the area clean.

They were so careful not to shave too much off him. The back of his tail but not the front, parts of his pantaloons but not all. And all of his polka dots survived.

Jonah seems to be doing okay. He's still on pain meds and antibiotics. Getting used to the collar is difficult and would be extremely funny if he wasn't so frustrated. He can't eat the food he prefers so getting his special food into him is a major feat. He still insists on being close to me ALL the time. It was a traumatic ordeal for the little guy but I'm fairly confident he will make a complete recovery. He goes into the vet for a quick check on Friday but stitches won't come out for appx 10 day. He's already starting to itch.

I am posting a couple of shots of the operation site but it will be available to contacts only because it is kind of gruesome. If anyone else thinks they need to see it just Flickr mail me.
