2 short videos of the Varied Thrush as he moves about the garden. It was a very windy day, the power was out but there was enough light to sit at the window and snap photos and several videos. This bird is a rare but very welcome visitor. The sunflower seed ball had been hanging but fell once it got really wet so then all the birds flocked around the seed ball. The Varied Thrush monopolized the entire area and managed to eat up almost all the seeds. Once he flew away all the resident sparrows, chickadees and finch came out of hiding.

My son Mike sent a box filled with gifts and lots of wonderful crinkly wrapping paper. Amber enjoyed it so much! Thanks Mike!!
At .57 you will see one of the areas on Ambers that is a prime spot for itching and biting. She usually has to wear the cone all the time but I do give her a few time outs for eating and grooming but I watch carefully because she will start scratching and biting if my attention is elsewhere.

We have 5 different kinds of cones but Amber doesn't like any of them. Sure changes her behavior when she is forced to have one on. She gets very needy and has to be as close to me as possible, even sitting in my lap on the couch and sleeping as close to me as possible at night. She never ever does that except when she is wearing a cone or the paper plate of power. She is a very independent little girl!
