One of fifty vehicles built by the Gloucester Railway Carriage & Wagon Company and delivered to the Metropolitan District Railway in 1923. Originally fitted with hand-operated sliding doors, these trains were designated 'G' stock when new, but in 1938 were modernised with the fitting of air-operated doors and were then redesignated as Q23 stock. They then worked in mixed-stock fomations with newer vehicles on the District Line for many years, this example, Car 4248 running in service for the last time in September 1971.

This Weymann bodied Leyland Cub single decker operated out of Enfield Garage from May 1936 to 1940. Later, it was painted green and for several years operated as a Country Area bus. In 1954 it was bought by a builder and for two years was used as a mobile workshop. During the 1960s it was sold for preservation but was left untouched for 20 years before work began. It is seen here on display at the London Transport Museum on 10th April 2012.
