This is Sarandë in the south of Albania, the entry point to the country from Corfu. A couple of years ago, my wife and I went touring there. I wanted to again see a unique European country much as I remember them in the early 60s before everything became the same. That's pretty much what we found. Albania is family-centred, safe and respectable. It's a young society with few fat people and is untouched by the Americans (we didn't see a single McDonalds in the whole country). So, if you can survive a run-down infrastructure and customer-blindness, you could try a holiday in Albania. It has wonderful scenery, beach resorts and important archaeology.

My wife on the wide, sandy, warm beach at Bijilo, The Gambia. The men are bringing in a catch.
On flickr this is my 3rd most "interesting" photo I have taken.
