The first section of the arch for the new I-74 bridge has been
put in place. 20 years in the making, it is quite a project. It's fascinating to see it go up.
The lack of people is due to wind chills near -30 again this morning. Just too cold for any outside work. Especially on the river where it always seems even colder.

This is from the Iowa side of the Mississippi looking toward Illinois. It is the current I-74 bridge but will not be with us too much longer. In the background, you can see the new bridge being built.

Foundations for the arches have been poured for the new bridge. Little by little it's coming along. It's odd seeing cranes on barges and that red crane is massive!!
I'm not sure what the tall green structure is. I don't think it's staying.

Work construction continues on the new I-74 bridge across the Mississippi River regardless of the weather.
This reminds me of my years building R.R. bridges for the Rock Island Line. Hard work made even harder in these type of conditions.

A silhouette of the work going on for the new I-74 bridge over the Mississippi River. You can see the old bridge in the silhouette.
