I decided to head out to Balcones - about 30 minutes west of Austin - today. I finally arrived at the trailhead at about 11:30 - and about 99 degrees. There were three connected trails so I was able to hike about 6 miles. Toward the end I was really feeling the heat, but it was pleasant to be out there alone. I didn't see anyone else on the trails. I suppose they all had more common sense than I did.
