The best camera is the one you have.
My father and his wife came to visit this weekend. One of the things we did while they were here was make a trip to Mission San Jose, one of the first buildings constructed on what was later known as the San Antonio River, and one of the first communities that would later become the city of San Antonio.
Here S. was taking a picture of the chapel and old "convento" where the Europeans lived.

Soccer Saturday again!
The Rhino is back! Plowing boys down all over the field.
Her team calls her "The Rhino" because she is fearless about charging into a group to get the ball.
My girls have all played soccer since they were about 6 or 7. We enjoy being out there and watching them work hard.

a little afternoon snack. I've been on leave for the last week. I had some big work goals to accomplish (yes, I said I was on leave) but honestly I've mostly just been chilling out, which I think I really needed and didn't really realize it. I start my last course of the year on Thursday with this group of students. I'm excited - it's investments and it should be fun.

Kandie gave me a box of chocolate cherries for Valentine's Day. I love chocolate cherries. They really aren't very good, but I can't stop myself from gorging on them when they are around, kind of like I can't help eating McDonalds. I always feel sick afterwards, but it's like a force of nature. A black hole of sickly sugar and artificial flavor that just drags me down to a singularity.
As you can see, there is only one left (of 12) from this morning.

I took a group of my students to tour the wafer manufacturing lab at Freescale [www.freescale.com] in Austin this morning. Even to stand outside the labs we had to gown up like this. It was very interesting and we appreciated the opportunity.
