Metro-Cammell built, Class 101, Twin Car D.M.U. Sets, can be viewed here, standing on Platform No.1, also known as the ‘Arrivals Platform’, (left), and also, on Platform No.2, (right), at Whitby Town Station, on 18/06/1975. The ‘Middle Siding’, which ran between the Platform No.1 running line, and the Platform No.2 running line, can be seen between the two trains. British Railways’ tangerine enamel signage is still in evidence at this time. Unfortunately, I cannot find my notes which recorded the running numbers for these units.

Metro-Cammell built, Class 101, Twin-Car D.M.U. Set, (comprising No.E50177 and an unidentified unit), on a Whitby to Middlesbrough Service, are viewed here, passing Bog Hall Signal Box, having just departed Whitby Town Station, on 04/09/1971. The lead-car is clearly identified, as No.E50177, but unfortunately, the identity of the trailing car is unknown. This is a bit of a shame, as the car would appear to be still sporting a green livery, and a lion and wheel crest emblem, together with the metal bars across the passenger door windows, as once fitted to a number of units allocated to the North Eastern Region. The Parish Church of St. Mary, and the ruins of Whitby Abbey, can be seen on the far sky-line.
