Got a new car, so a new trip to the Trona Pinnacles was in order.
On the way back from Las Vegas I made the detour and it was worth it. Although I didn't get the shots I wanted because the moon was setting just as I got there, I got some great Milky Way views.
I had to do a little light painting since there was no available light. With only my cell phone handy, I gave it a whirl and am pretty happy with the result. Although its not as even as it could be, not bad for a quick job with a cell phone light.

During another trip to the bay area, I decided to camp at a few places along the way. One of the stops was the Trona Pinnacles just off Highway 395. I drove my Subaru STi to the pinnacles on a dirt road lit by a little moon light for a few miles and found a spot to set up. After setting up my Poler tent, I ran around with a few cameras to set up for some Star Trails. This was shot with my Tokina 11-16mm on a 7D. I stacked 130 1-minute exposures in Photoshop to gain the final result.
Oddly enough, this was my first star trail without any sort of air traffic that I had to edit out in post.

During my last road trip, I dropped my girlfriend off in Oregon and made my way for some National Parks in Washington. Mount Rainier has been one of my favorite Parks I have visited so far. The Subaru handled the drive like a champ even tho it had some issues later on in the trip.
They say money can't buy happiness, but it can buy a Subaru.
