Hello all. My name is Carl and I live in Western New York in a town called Ashville. I grew up in Minnesota but have settled here since 1997. I got my first DSLR this summer, an entry level Nikon 3300. One of the great things that has happened is that I have explored the area around me to a degree that I never have before. The majority of the pictures in my photostream are within a 20 minute drive of my house (with a few exceptions like Niagara Falls) I really enjoy the rural landscapes, animals and barns along with Chautauqua Lake which is all close by. Also enjoy macro photography as it explores things in way the human eye cannot.
This first shot I am sharing is one I have taken several times already and am always amazed at how different it looks in time of day, the weather and the season. I love how open the sky is here and also love the weathered barn in front. Really looking forward to this challenge and being part of this group.
