One of the many amazing features of Bora Bora is that as you travel around the island, the view is constantly changing as Mount Otemanu is off centred and crooked. This is one of my favourite views of the island from our first lunch on one of the motus surrounding this legendary island.

If you look closely, you can see a cave two thirds of the way up the mountain. You might be surprised to know that there are many legends built around this natural phenomenon. I wanted to climb to it but in the end, the mile wide lagoon was just too beautiful and full of fish, mammals and reefs ... and we swam the days away :)

Bora Bora was always one of the highest on my bucket list of adventurous destinations. The best part is that it lives up its legendary status.

There are no buildings higher that than the tallest coconut tree.
Now that is civic planning :)

(This is my favourite LENS so Click for Higher Resolution)

Decided to head to the White Rock Pier one early morning when I knew the Mist would be prowling about.

There is a Metallic Art Piece that I have photographed before and this atmosphere was perfectly set with lighting on the sculpture and on the pier.

this was my first time photographing through the Sculpture toward the pier and I reveled in the interplay of the vibrant lighting from below the sculpture and the Pier. The lights cycle through a prism of bright colours every minute or so from Red through Yellow, Purple, Green and a few colours in between.

Through the Eye, you can see the lighting on the pier and the railway crossing to the promenade.

The lights are only turned on just before dawn (and dusk) and last for about an hour.

Very peaceful with the sun rising through the fog toward a clear day.

One day last summer enjoying photographic opportunities where modern architecture meets the old town in a festive square of sunlight and your beverage of choice

Used a wide-angle 14-24 and decided to play with straightening the vertical lines and see what came up.

Now the two coasts of Vancouver Island are quite different. The east or inner coast is calm and brimming with sheltered coves.

The West Coast facing the Pacific Ocean is another kettle of fish. It can be wild and untamed. The Winter Storms are sought out by Savvy Travellers to immerse themselves into the Wild Waves.

It was a tempestuous Spring Day when we arrived at one of these beaches to stay a few days. And although we missed the high storm waves we were still treated to empty beaches and lots of shadows and light.

This is one of the beaches just down from Tofino.

Take a deep breath and enjoy the intricate and quite unique view of the inside cogs that turn a Windmill.

This photograph looks upward through the protective cage into the upper wheels that still churn out power. Please don't climb into the mechanism as it will hurt!

This is a fun photograph where it appears to make no sense and yet this mechanical invention powered many fields for many lifetimes.

Hope you enjoy and appreciate the ancient art of harnessing the wind with bricks and wheels and cogs and a camera.
