On this evening, I planned to reshoot Hell's Beach in the eastern sand tufa nest. I was, however, turned back by cops who were engaging in some non-specified law enforcement activities that even the visiting center did not know about. Being the landscape paparazzi I am, I parked at the main lot and stealthily hiked in, expecting bullets flying through air. The change of plans worked out wonderfully as I got the light exactly where I wanted to, and I would not have gotten the light at Hell's Beach. I guess, the cops knew better ... Let me know what you think about the title.

I noticed this little detail while biking the Vestal Rail Trail today. You are looking at a concrete wall in Chugnut Creek. The white part is directly lit by the sun, then there is the reflection in the water. The textured middle triangle is the light cast by the reflected white part, and there is the corresponding reflection in the creek. The last two segments are similarly due to even more reflections that contribute to a gradual loss of light, hence the darker colors. The upper part has cooler colors than the bottom part due to the mixing with the murky water. In summary, you are looking at a "septaflection". Perhaps your first?

Eastern Sierras and sunrise go together like peanut butter and jelly. This one was definitely worth getting up for. The beauty unFOLDed on the ground and in the sky.

Welcome to Hell's Beach. Words cannot describe my excitement when I discovered this place and this composition. I have not seen a picture of this place anywhere but, as anything in this global world, someone must have shot this before. If you know exactly where this is, please do not spoil it for others and send me a PM on Flickr. If you do not know, feel free to make a guess in the comments below. To the purists among us, the processing on this image is fairly minimal. It is 99% field work with native sky. Enjoy.
