Narracan Creek in Gippsland, Victoria, Australia.
The sun was shining in a clear sky with some scattered clouds here and there.
The camera was set up on the tripod, the ND filter was fitted and now all I needed was for the sun to go behind a cloud, and I waited and waited.
It took a couple of hours to get the right cloud to cover the sun as the earlier clouds were not thick enough to do the required job.

This is Cyathea Falls in the Tarra-Bulga National Park near Balook, in the state of Victoria, Australia.
It was dark underneath the rainforest canopy and there was a steady fall of light rain.
I set up my camera, using a small umbrella to keep it dry and had taken two photos when there was an almighty clap of thunder, followed 15 seconds later by a gust of wind which delivered a marked drop in temperature as the light faded.
I packed my gear away as quickly as I could and as I was closing the camera bag, it started to rain much heavier.
It is only a 6-minute walk back to my car, by which time my coat and cap were drenched and, as I step onto the edge of the car park, the rain came down so heavy that I had to retreat to a roofed shelter.
I spent 30-minutes looking at my car sitting only 25-metres away however, the rain was coming down in absolute torrents – I estimate it must have been 3-inches in those 30-minutes.

On the weekend I visited "Evermore", a slice of heaven at Devon, South Gippsland, in the state of Victoria, Australia.
The first thing I noticed when I arrived was the birdsong. It has been a long time since I last heard so many birds all singing at once.
"Evermore" has a lovely garden which includes a creek running past at the bottom of the slope.
There is a resident wombat, and a koala bear was in a nearby tree with her joey which is at the stage of hitching a ride on mum's abdomen or back.
I spent some time exploring the property and this section of old weathered fence attracted my attention.

This scene was captured from the side of Mount Tassie which is in the state of Victoria, Australia, not far from Balook.
Late in the afternoon torrents of rain had fallen over the general area, and the humid conditions and a warm ground both combined to fill these valleys and hollows with mist.
As I was photographing the rising and falling swirls of mist, the sun broke through underneath the cloud layer and presented this dramatic and beautiful sunset.
It was a wonderful end to the day.
