We enjoyed birdwatching at Véra Wetlands with Roger and Angela who we met at Alfaix last year, we met early and enjoyed the morning sun on the water. We then had breakfast by the beach just south of Playa del Rey.
We visited an area where Roger and Angela had found stone curlew last year but no sightings this year. The are was much drier than usual despite rain in January. This striking flower was growing in the ditch by the dirt road.
Euphorbia amygdaloides ‘Purpurea’ has beautiful purple-tinged dark-green foliage. In wintertime, the foliage turns to be winter colors; it gets deeper red-purple on the frontside and glows red on the backside.
Euphorbia amygdaloides (Wood Spurge) is a perennial plant native to Europe and Western Asia.
