The Vermilion Flycatcher lives in the southern ranges of Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas as well as throughout Mexico. I found this bird in Patagonia, AZ.

This bird lives throughout Mexico but summers in the south of Texas along the border as well as in southern Arizona.

I have photographed this bird before (in AZ) but I knew I could do better, so I spent several days photographing this species in a few different locations. I found this one in Kickapoo State Park. A great place! A small campground with only 15 sites and lots of birds. This guy and his missus hung out in a small grassy area as they flew among and perched in mostly the same trees and shrubs. After noticing their pattern, I sat down and waited for him to perch against a green background. Birding while sitting is ideal in 98 degree heat.
