I photographed this bird at the CRC in Ontario. I went on an owl and raptor trek with my photographer friend Brian Jones through Michigan and Ontario. Through Brian, we were invited to the CRC by Howard Brodsky, who graciously hosted our visit to the CRC and allowed us to shoot with him. All three of us photographed this eagle on a fairly mild winter day with just the right amount of sun beaming from behind the trees to illuminate the bird while maintaining the darkness of the forest. Thank you Howard for helping me make this image possible.

Anchor Point is fifteen miles north of Homer, Alaska. On a beach facing the west setting sun, I found more than a dozen eagles. This is a notoriously cloudy and foggy area, and sometime the fog will burn off in mid-afternoon. When I noticed the sun breaking through, I knew I would have until midnight to get some sun-cloaked eagles, and this guy remained perched for more than an hour and had no problem with me standing five feet from him pointing a huge lens.

This is another perched bald eagle at Anchor Point, AK. I love how these juveniles have a native born imperious expression. The juveniles almost look more stern than they do as adults.
