My wife alerted me that a tiny bird was sitting on the concrete porch leading to our front door. It appeared that this tiny Ruby-crowned Kinglet may have hit the large window in front of our house and was recuperating near the stairs. I went out and looked him over from about 4 feet away and when he didn't move but just stared at me, I got my camera with a 200 mm lens, lied down about 5 feet away and took several shots. I then left him/her be and kept checking for about 5 minutes until the Kinglet regained its strength and took off. About an hour later I saw a Kinglet in my yard, hawking flying insects and I'm guessing it was the same one....

A Golden-crowned Kinglet pauses at fresh drill wells made by a pair of Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers in the area. It might have been looking for small insects drawn to the sap leaking from the wells ( there were some mosquito like bugs flying around) ...
