A Brown Creeper arrives at the cavity that accesses its very well hidden nest ( they build their nests behind the raised bark of a tree). It hesitates but then enters the cavity to feed its young. A master of camouflage in every sense....

A Brown Creeper in the process of exiting its nest which is hidden from view by the delaminating bark. See my next photo for a complete shot of this very tiny wonder.

This tiny camouflage expert has just exited from under that bark after delivering nesting materials. The nest remains hidden behind the bark. The shot prior to this one will show the Creeper as it is leaving the entrance.

I watched and photographed a pair of Brown Creepers going under the peeling bark of this tree and then exiting. This might be their nesting site ( they build their nests, out of site behind tree bark like this). Or they are just investigating it as a possible sight. I will know in a week or so..... Its been a few years since the last time I found a Creeper nest...

I Was quite pleased to finally get some decent shots of a Brown Creeper this Winter. I have seen and/or heard several this Winter but photographing them is another matter. Their high pitch calls alert me to their presence but its 50/50 if I can make a visual. No such issues to day with good light and a bird working hard. So tiny and the best camo out there...Canon 7D and 500F4.. straight crop from horizontal to vertical.
