From much earlier in the year. These tiny owls measure approximately 8 inches in length. This one was half asleep.

Not something I have ever seen before..,,This tiny Owl was sleeping then suddenly started walking along the length of the short branch it was perched on and flew to the ground. It stayed in the snow for about 15 -30 seconds and then it flew off with prey to a well hidden spot ( could not get anymore shots because of late light and the thickness of the branches/brush around the owl)

A Boreal Owl from a past Winter. I've only seen 3 of these over the years. Not a species we get too often around here,,,,,

This bird had landed on a Christmas Wreath on the front door of an Orleans home ( chased there by other birds) and I was lucky enough to be able to photograph the owl which had moved to the yard by the time i arrived.

I never would have seen this guy if not for several chickadees that were obviously upset at something in a busy tree. I looked hard and then there it was, no bigger than a robin and blending in perfectly. I found two small keyholes and at first I thought he was sitting on a small piece of ice...ends up being a meadow vole or some other tiny rodent. Light was late and I didn't stay long...will check again tomorrow or the next day...
