One of my favorite migrating birds back for a visit. Little known fact, they use the stars at night to navigate! This is a high resolution image so zoom in!

He is probably singing with happiness because of the caterpillar feast that lies in front of him.

A bit busier background than I like, but the warbler is so bright it does still stand out.

Near Kingston, ON.

I was able to get a number of different shots of this fellow, in many different poses and settings. I suspect I will eventually post a number of them.

I liked this pose, with his mouth open, calling; and a highly visible red eye; and small hook at the end of his beak.

Near Kingston, ON

The Pileated Woodpecker is one of the biggest, most striking forest birds on the continent. It's nearly the size of a crow, black with bold white stripes down the neck and a flaming-red crest.
