it seems right to me to close this adventure of the Stone curlew with this photo. A photo that certainly does not make people cry for its beauty, but it is a miracle for what it represents. The strength with which nature in its simple and stubborn desire to resist "in spite of everything" will never cease to amaze me.
Since I found the eggs, at the shed placement, at the photo sessions, our first concern was the safety of the nest. May was a terrible month from the climatic point of view, cold and rain have hit Parma incessantly. in a weekend more than 70 mm of water fell and temperatures reached 6 degrees. Sudden floods threatened the nest without anyone being able to do anything about it. Nature must take its course. We couldn't help but think of those poor birds hatching under the weather to protect their eggs. Our families now followed curious and worried the evolution of the brood, we were all rooting for them. Someone believed they couldn't do it, including me.
But nature takes its course "despite everything". Yesterday this wonderful surprise awaited us at the nest. The time for greetings, for wonder and a goodbye. Who knows, maybe in a few years I'll photograph them intent on hatching their nest.
NONOSTANTE TUTTO
mi sembra giusto chiudere questa avventura degli gli occhioni con questa foto. Una foto che certo non fa gridare al miracolo per la sua bellezza, ma è un miracolo per ciò che rappresenta. La forza con cui la natura nella sua semplice e caparbia voglia di resistere "nonostante tutto" non smetterà mai di meravigliarmi.
Sin da quando ho trovato le uova, al piazzamento del capanno, alle sessioni fotografiche, la nostra prima preoccupazione è stata l'incolumità del nido. Maggio è stato un mese terribile dal punto di vista climatico, freddo e pioggia si sono abbattutti incessantemente su Parma. in un week end sono caduti più di 70 mm di acqua e le temperature sono arrivate a toccare i 6 gradi. Piene improvvise hanno minacciato il nido senza che nessuno potesse farci nulla. La natura deve fare il suo corso. Non potevamo fare a meno di pensare a quei poveri uccelli a covare sotto le intemperie a protezione delle uova. Le nostre famiglie ormai seguivano curiose e preoccupate l'evolversi della nidiata, tutti facevamo il tifo per loro. Qualcuno credeva non ce la facessero, me compreso.
Ma la natura fà il suo corso " nonostante tutto". Ieri questa meravigliosa sorpresa ci attendeva al nido. Il tempo dei saluti, della meraviglia e di un arrivederci. Chissà, magari tra qualche anno li fotograferò intenti a covare il loro nido.
