Saint-Tropez : une légende romaine
En l’an 68, Torpes, intendant de Néron qui refusa d’abjurer sa foi chrétienne, fut torturé et tué à Pise par l’empereur.
Sa dépouille fut jetée à bord d’une barque sur l’Arno. Les chrétiens de l’actuel Saint-Tropez trouvèrent l’embarcation, cachèrent la dépouille du Saint martyr et lui élevèrent une chapelle.
Torpes donna son nom à Saint-Tropez.

Saint-Tropez: a Roman legend
In the year 68, Torpes, steward of Nero who refused to renounce his Christian faith, was tortured and killed in Pisa by the emperor.
His remains were thrown aboard a boat on the Arno. The Christians of what is now Saint-Tropez found the boat, hid the remains of the Holy Martyr and erected a chapel for him.
Torpes gave its name to Saint-Tropez.

La basilique de Sant'Andrea se dresse au-dessus de deux autres églises précédemment construites en l'honneur du saint qui a fait retrouver la relique du Saint-Sang. Sa construction a démarré en 1472 et s'est achevée en 1772. Elle conserve la plus grande relique du christianisme : les vases sacrés contenant le sang de Jésus.

A une cinquantaine de km du lac de Garde, comment ne pas visiter Mantoue?

Le château Saint-Georges est la partie ancienne fortifiée de ce qui constitue le palazzo Ducale de Mantoue.
Le bâtiment fut construit par Bartolino de Novare pour François Ier Gonzague à partir de 1395 pour se terminer en 1406. C'est alors une forteresse militaire.

St. George's Castle is the old fortified part of what constitutes the Palazzo Ducale of Mantua.
The building was built by Bartolino of Novare for François I Gonzaga from 1395 to end in 1406. It was then a military fortress.
