The whole west of Cornwall lived until the 80s from mining, from the countless copper and tin mines, entire areas are characterized by the mining activity, including the Atlantic coast of Penwith. Remained are old chimneys, and ruins of the shaft and pump houses. Der ganze Westen Cornwalls lebte bis in die 80er Jahre vom Bergbau, von den unzähligen Kupfer- und Zinnminen, ganze Landstriche sind durch die Minentätigkeit geprägt, so auch die Atlantikküste von Penwith. Übrig geblieben sind alte Schornsteine, und Ruinen der Schacht- und Pumpenhäuser. Diese beiden - die zur Botallack-Mine bei Pendeen gehören, haben doch einen ganz spektakulären Platz - hier könnte man stundenlang sitzen und einfach dem Meer zusehen und zuhören... In the far southwest of Cornwall, not far from Lands End, lies this small peninsula, called Cape Cornwall. On our hike along the coast in the former mining area of Pendeen, this was the conclusion of a promising tour. I liked the light and the tranquility radiating from this motif. The two offshore islands, called "the Brisons", should look like Charles de Gaulle lying on his back.

Ganz im Südwesten von Cornwall, unweit von Lands End liegt diese kleine Halbinsel im Altantik, genannt Cape Cornwall. Auf unserer Wanderung entlang der Küste im ehemaligen Minengebiet von Pendeen war dies der Abschluss einer aussichtsreichen Tour. Mir gefiel an dieser Stelle das Licht und die Ruhe, die dieses Motiv ausstrahlt. Die beiden vorgelagerten Inseln, genannt "the Brisons", sollen aussehen wie Charles de Gaulle, der auf dem Rücken liegt.

They still exist in Cornwall, the original places where tourism has not yet arrived and the inhabitants are doing their work as they have been for ages ... Even the old winch to get out the boats is still intact ... (on the Coast path between Lamorna and Porthcurno)

Es gibt sie in Cornwall noch, die ursprünglichen Orte, an denen der Tourismus noch nicht angekommen ist und die Bewohner ihrer Arbeit nachgehen, wie seit ewiger Zeit... Sogar die alte Winde zum Herausholen der Boote ist noch intakt... (auf den Coast path zwischen Lamorna und Porthcurno)
