The whole west of Cornwall lived until the 80s from mining, from the countless copper and tin mines, entire areas are characterized by the mining activity, including the Atlantic coast of Penwith. Remained are old chimneys, and ruins of the shaft and pump houses. Der ganze Westen Cornwalls lebte bis in die 80er Jahre vom Bergbau, von den unzähligen Kupfer- und Zinnminen, ganze Landstriche sind durch die Minentätigkeit geprägt, so auch die Atlantikküste von Penwith. Übrig geblieben sind alte Schornsteine, und Ruinen der Schacht- und Pumpenhäuser. Diese beiden - die zur Botallack-Mine bei Pendeen gehören, haben doch einen ganz spektakulären Platz - hier könnte man stundenlang sitzen und einfach dem Meer zusehen und zuhören...
