The Long Sault Parkway just opened for the season and we were taking our first trip of the year through when we spotted a gorgeous Common Loon not far from the shore of the River. He made my day!

I think the cormorants are better fishermen. The pelicans definitely pay attention to the cormorants, almost like they're hoping the cormorant will lead them to the fish. And if the cormorant gets one, it could be mobbed by the pelicans, hoping for a steal. I actually have an old series of a pelican taking the fish a heron on the shoreline had just caught.
