In the afternoon a group of guanaco's feeding on the dry late winter grass. This was taken near the path on the walk that leads to salto grande waterfall. The cuernos make an impressive back drop and it is well worth following this walk to the mirador cuernos. The untouched nature and solitude in winter makes Torres del Paine an incredible place to visit. Guanaco are found all throughout the national park. Llama and alpaca's are descended from wild guanacos having been domesticated 6,000-7,000 years ago.

The moon is setting over the cuernos in torres del paine national park as the sun begins to rise. There was a faint bit of colour in the clouds during this transition. The moon light landscape was stunning. The photos was taken from the hill at hosteria pehoe. While the accommodation is lacking the views make it worthwhile.

Glacier grey beneath a dark stormy Patagonian sky. Glacier grey due to the retreat of the glacier has formed different sections. This is the more jagged section of the glacier. The blue colour with the carved mountains of Torres del Paine in the background make for an amazing landscape experience.

The Cuernos from on the W track between Skottsberg Lake lookout and Italiano ranger station and camp. Although not as famous a viewpoint as the southern side of the Cuernos the western view of these peaks is something that is still special. The W track one of the greatest hiking tracks in the world goes around the Cuernos and Paine Grande. This spot provided a lovely window created by the lenga. From this view point you can see the Torres Towers to the left of the image and the horns. The light coloured granite lacolith with the upper dark colour sedimentary rock gives off a striking colour contrast.

Grey Glacier from the catamaran on Lago Grey. The Grey Glacier has retreated enough to form three different areas. This is the second area and the most jagged of the three. The wonderful backdrop of jagged peaks creates a stunning landscape. It was a stormy day when we went with brief periods of light breaking through. The water was still enough to capture some nice reflection in the water.
