I'm a bit sad that I am already into numerous snow/winter shots on my photostream and it's only the middle of November! I love autumn and just didn't get enough shots in this year due to Covid, being busy, and the early snow. Oh well, something to look forward to next year.

I wasn't too thrilled about the dump of snow we'd got overnight but as the day went on and the sun came out, I knew I had to get out with my camera for a bit, something I had not done for a while.

So I headed over to McArthur Island Park, home of the marmots. I wasn't expecting to see any wildlife except for ducks; the marmots are probably nestled down in their burrows for the winter. What a lovely surprise it was to round a corner and see this young buck standing in the middle of the road like he owned it.

I love watching these ducks. Sometimes when I go here, there are no ducks in this area because they are all swimming in ones and twos in the pond which is down a bit of an embankment . Other times, none of them are in the pond and are all crammed up close together here, softly quacking at each other. I like to imagine that they are sharing juicy gossip.

The moment I saw this mallard I was reminded of the myth of Narcissus and of so many works of art that depict the young man who fell in love with his own reflection. The name Narcissus is, of course, the source of the word narcissist.

I have named this mallard Donald J. Trump.
