The pancake rocks at Punakaiki at the coast along the Tasman Sea in New Zealand's South Island.
The rocks consist of limestone layers build up of harder and softer layers. With subsequent erosion over millions of years, the softer layers are eroded quicker and the pancake appearence forms.
