Oh boy, they're watching. Now I've got to nail this landing.
A pair on male Acorn Woodpeckers appear to be judging the other's landing. The one in the middle could likely be studying his techniques as he is only about a week out of the nest. The best way (other than awkwardness) to distinguish an immature one is the blue eyes. Only when they reach maturity do they develop their iconic bright yellow eyes.

I just noticed this afternoon that I have a pair building a nest in cork oak that was used last spring. Unfortunately the tree prevents any and all photo opportunities. The kind that birds magically disappear into and teleport back out a few moments later. Bad for photography, ideal for nest security.
