This thyme plant has had a rough time since I planted it with the very high winds we have had almost constantly for a while. We finally had a nice day and I was able to take this photo.

The root of a vanilla orchid. Like most orchids, the vanilla plant is an epiphyte, roots clinging to a rough surface, norm,ally in a tree. Unlike most, the vanilla is a vine, and winds itself around the limbs. We picked this up at a sale in our local botanical gardens, where it was excess to their needs. I'm hoping we can keep it alive long enough for it to bloom and produce some marvelous vanilla pods.
