I was late to the game to see the Boreal Owl which has been in the area for about a month. Fortunately, when I arrived that morning it had already been found, perched right near a trail. Too much lens!!!
It dozed on a branch for about 45 minutes, a deer mouse tucked underneath its claws. After coughing up a pellet the Boreal began to tuck into the mouse. It ate about half, moved next to the trunk of the tree and left the mouse remnants, maybe for a later snack(?).

I thought the action of this Red-breasted Merganser reflects how I feel about the December 15th announcements by the Federal and Ontario governments regarding the latest covid restrictions. Haven't we been there before???? Will we ever get out of this????? :(
