Steller's Jays can imitate the vocalizations of many species of birds, other animals, and even sounds of non-animal origin. They will often imitate the calls of red-tailed hawks, red-shouldered hawks, and osprey, causing other birds to seek cover and flee feeding areas. (Source: animalia.bio) I have a thing for blue, so of course I loved this chatty bird with its beautiful deep blue and black plumage.

I almost missed this Short-eared Owl. It was perched low in the tall grass and it was just about dark. I'm glad I didn't because I think this ended up being my favorite image of the day.
