Resident waders about 15-18 cm long and found across South Asia and South East Asia near the edges of water bodies throughout the year. These are social birds and often found in a flock of 100 and more. They prefer the sand banks and mud near water bodies to rest and flock together. Sometimes we see them on the banks of lakes, but this time we spotted a large flock maybe a few hundred of them on a dried lake bed.

The lake had dried up partially resulting in a large number of waders (1000+) making it their winter home. The birds were foraging in the mud walking around. There were several kills and we sighted a Peregrine falcon hunting too, though I couldn't get any shots.

Thank you so much in advance for your views and feedback. Much appreciated.

One of the several types of Thrush found in India and common to much of Europe, Temperate Asia and North Africa. This is found only in the Himalayan Belt in India and we sighted both the male and female on that day - though we couldn't get any pics of the female.

These are medium sized birds - around 26-28 cms and the largest native thrush in Europe. We sighted the bird feeding on the ground amongst the leaf litter looking for invertebrates, seeds and berries that fell on the ground. I believe Mistletoe is the birds favorite and hence the name. The plant too benefits from the birds that the seeds are germinate on other tree branches where it grows.

Many thanks in advance for your views, faves and feedback - much appreciated.
