A true medieval and gothic gem in the city of Segovia, its Alcazar.
The first reference to this castle was in 1120, around 32 years after the city of Segovia was conquered by the Christians.
As a curiosity: The castle's silhouette and overall appearance also inspired the castle in Disney's 1937 animated classic, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves".
If you ever come to Spain, don´t forget to visit Segovia, a marvelous historic city well know for its rich gastronomy and for its architectural landmarks (The Alcázar, El Acueducto and The Cathedral).
The city center was declared of World Heritage by UNESCO in 1985.

Una auténtica joya medieval y gótica en la ciudad de Segovia, su Alcázar.
La primera referencia a este castillo data de 1120, unos 32 años después de la conquista de la ciudad de Segovia por los cristianos.
Como curiosidad: la silueta del castillo y su apariencia general también inspiraron el castillo en el clásico animado de Disney de 1937, "Blancanieves y los Siete Enanitos".
Si alguna vez vienes a España, no dejes de visitar Segovia, una maravillosa ciudad histórica conocida por su rica gastronomía y por sus monumentos arquitectónicos (El Alcázar, El Acueducto y La Catedral).
La ciudad vieja fue declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la Unesco en 1985.

The Santa Iglesia Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción y de San Frutos de Segovia, known as the Lady of the Cathedrals due to its size and elegance, is a cathedral built between the 16th and 18th centuries, in a Gothic style with some Renaissance features. Segovia Cathedral is one of the latest Gothic cathedrals in Spain and Europe, erected in the middle of the 16th century (1525-1577), when Renaissance architecture spread throughout most of Europe.
I took this picture from the Parador of Segovia, located in a hill in front of the beautiful city, at midday.

La Santa Iglesia Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción y de San Frutos de Segovia, conocida como la Dama de las Catedrales por sus dimensiones y su elegancia, es una catedral construida entre los siglos XVI y XVIII, de estilo gótico con algunos rasgos renacentistas. La catedral de Segovia es una de las catedrales góticas más tardías de España y de Europa, erigida en pleno siglo XVI (1525-1577), cuando en la mayor parte de Europa se difundía la arquitectura renacentista.

The Aqueduct of Segovia is a Roman aqueduct in Segovia, Spain. It is one of the best-preserved elevated Roman aqueducts and the foremost symbol of Segovia.
Its construction dates from the beginning of the 2nd century AC., at the end of the reign of Emperor Trajano or the beginning of Adriano.
It is built with granite ashlars seated without mortar between them.
I took this picture at midday, with no the best light conditions and heat, from the Parador of Segovia, located on a hill in front of the city of Segovia. I would have liked to take this picture during the blue hour, but unfortunately we couldn´t wait until dusk because it was very late and we had to drive back home for about 30 minutes. Sometimes you cannot be at the right place in the right moment. Well, next time, in another season, we´ll try it.

El Acueducto de Segovia, miles de años de historia, Segovia, Castilla y León, España
El Acueducto de Segovia es un acueducto romano en Segovia, España. Es uno de los acueductos romanos elevados mejor conservados y el principal símbolo de Segovia.
Su construcción data de principios del siglo II d. C., a finales del reinado del emperador Trajano o principios de Adriano.
Está construido con sillares de granito asentados sin argamasa entre ellos.
Esta foto la tomé a mediodía, sin las mejores condiciones de luz y con calor, desde el Parador de Segovia, situado en una colina frente a la ciudad de Segovia. Me hubiera gustado tomar esta foto durante la hora azul, pero lamentablemente no pudimos esperar hasta el anochecer porque era muy tarde y teníamos que conducir de regreso a casa durante unos 30 minutos. A veces no puedes estar en el lugar correcto en el momento adecuado. Bueno, la próxima vez, en otra temporada, lo intentaremos.

The Cathedral of Segovia rises elegantly and majestically enlightened by the afternoon light in this view taken from the gardens around the Alcazar, in the west side of the city.
Although the light was truly pleasant, the heat was noticeable too. Anyway and fortunately, I took this picture from a shadow.

La Catedral de Segovia se alza elegante y majestuosamente iluminada por la luz de la tarde en esta vista tomada desde los jardines del Alcázar, en el lado oeste de la ciudad.
Aunque la luz era realmente agradable, el calor también se notaba. De todos modos y afortunadamente, tomé esta foto desde una sombra.

From the surroundings of the Roman Aqueduct you can enjoy great views over Segovia´s roofs.
From this perspective, you can contemplate Sierra de Guadarrama in the background, with the famous "Dead Woman", a characteristic silhouette of the mountains remembering the shape of a dead woman.
La Mujer Muerta, or Dead Woman is a mountainous alignment belonging to the Sierra de Guadarrama (Sierra del Sistema Central, Spain), which is within the province of Segovia (Castilla y León)

La Mujer Muerta sobre los tejados de Segovia, Segovia, Castilla y León, España
Desde los alrededores del Acueducto Romano podrás disfrutar de unas estupendas vistas sobre los tejados de Segovia. En esta ocasión, se puede contemplar la Sierra de Guadarrama de fondo, con la famosa Mujer Muerta, una silueta característica de las montañas que recuerda la forma de una mujer yacente.
