While hiking through Val Strem, we suddenly discovered a colony of marmots! Usually you just hear their shrill warning whistles before they disappear into their burrows, but this time I managed to take several pictures.

At Rinderchruteren (1346m) I saw these two cows silhouetted against the sky, with the peak of the Grosser Mythen as a backdrop.

After posing for me in front of the lake, this beautiful Icelandic young cow decided enough was enough and took a nap. You can admire its brindle coat which vaguely resembles that of a tiger or a leopard.

I saw this beautiful cow at Glattalp, Switzerland, and I assume this is an Icelandic cow. It is a colourful breed that produces lots of milk.

Another special breed at Glattalp, Switzerland: a young Lakenvelder cow. The white belt in the middle is characteristic. It's a gentle cow that is easy to work with, and here, to graze freely among tourists.
