Success a caterpillar... The rest of the family were in the same tree, woodpeckers everywhere making loads of noise.

"Französisches Luftschiff über deutscher Stellung, beobachtet am 26.4.1916" - "French airship over a German position, observed on 26 April 1916"

I think this is a semi-professionally produced postcard, maybe at regimental level. It was sent as Feldpost by a soldier of the Königlich Sächsisches Ersatz-Infanterie-Regiment 40.

This White Pelican was flying very low over the water at Frank Lake, Alberta.

When birds flies less than a wingpsan’s distance from the ground, flight is much more efficient due to slight changes in airflow patterns around the wing. Land is usually too cluttered with grass and trees and whatnot to permit such flight, but calm waters are perfect for it.

This doubled-crested cormorant seemed to have no troubles finding an abundance of food in St Marks wildlife reserve, Florida.

A cormorant’s diet is almost all fish, with just a few insects, crustaceans, or amphibians.

These birds have impressive fishing technique: diving and chasing fish underwater with powerful propulsion from webbed feet. The tip of a cormorant’s upper bill is shaped like a hook, which is helpful for catching prey.
