Timid and rarely photographed well.
One will need to stay positioned over daybreak, not moving. Resist the bite of insects, aching limbs and other vagaries that pester bird photographers just to see one let alone record it on your card.
But what a thrill when you do and share it with others..

There seems to be a mad desire among powers that be, to build through every bit of swamp, a walkway, so runners, cyclists some with unleashed dogs can help reduce these birds by keeping them under stress continually.
Of course they will argue against this but as most of them know little about birds except that which they have gleaned from a text book or simply do not care.
