Temple of the Golden Pavilion — an iconic Kyoto landmark and World Heritage Site. Officially the building is called Rokuon-ji and is a branch temple of the of the Rinzai-sect Zen temple Shokoku-ji. The striking gold glow is created by the coating of gold leaf on the upper two floors thereby enhancing the reflection in the lake. The purpose of the building is to house the sacred relics of the Buddha.

There are so many great images from last night's Aurora. Heres one that stood out straight away.

This involved me wandering onto the beach in total darkness using a headtorch.

This was my first time photographing the Northern lights so I didnt realise the difficulties of focusing and composition in total darkness. I tried to include some foreground to give a sense of scale.
