Black-crowned night heron preening in the morning. I was watching it catching the small fish along the shore for 15 minutes. All of a sudden, it flew and landed on a big rock just about 20 feet away from me. Then it started its regular preening section.

May, 2023. Local pond in North of Edmonton.

I found this gorgeous Great Blue Heron in a local pond in the morning. I got few quick shots when it's preening, then I headed back to work.

Sunny morning. Local pond in North of Edmonton.

With the help of my feather friends, I found this Juvenile Northern Goshawk was watching for prey on a high perch. After a few minutes, it took off and chased its next meal. It's amazing to see how it was flying through the dense trees. The flight was quick and agile. I lost it right after it made a sharp turn in the woods.

I took about 15 shots for this sequence. This is one of the two shots that it's in the open without cluttered branches.

St. Albert. Feb. 2023. Sunny morning.

It's been a challenge to take photos of Aurora for Edmontonian for a long time. Most of the time, the weather was either cloudy or foggy. We missed many opportunities for the big shows. The G2/3 geomagnetic storm last week was not an exception. Again, the sky was cloudy around the city. But this time, I decided to try my luck. After 2 hours waiting in the cold windy night, the clouds still covered most of the sky and it didn't look like it will clear up soon. I gave up and left the park. When I was on my way home, I saw the bright green light dancing in the sky. I quickly pulled over my car on a back road in the middle of nowhere. Then I setup my tripod and took some record photos. Fortunately, the aurora was strong enough to break through the cloud. After 15-20 minutes, the light started to fade. And I couldn't see the light by naked eye again.

Somewhere in East of Edmonton. Partly cloudy midnight, 2023.03.23/24.
