This Gannet was taken on a recent trip to North Yorkshires, Bempton Cliffs, on a very rare few days away from home in the last sixteen months. I'm expecting things to get worse again anytime soon !!!

In autumn, redwings gather along the Scandinavian coast at dusk before launching off on their single 500 mile flight across the North Sea to the UK. In rough weather, many may crash into the waves and drown. At the moment there are hundreds and hundreds around here, although they have stripped the bushes bare, they are finding something to eat !!

The art of forward motion is falling over, but before you hit your nose on the ground, alternate feet stop you....... think about it !!
When Little Owls move long distances, they fly of course (as all birds do come to that)(ok not all birds) but when they are on short haul stuff, they walk or run ( the same again for all birds)......... but in all my years of watching birds, I have never seen any other bird do this with such style as a Little Owl :o)

OK, maybe a Puffin comes close LOL
