'RAFT RIDING.'

There were a pair of Grey Wagtails feeding around East Mill. They provided some interest which compensated for the no-show Peregrine that morning!

This female GW favoured a corner on the inflow channel at the base of the mill building. Wood and other debris carried downstream by the river had become trapped at this point. She was obviously finding plenty of invertebrates to feast on there and was unconcerned that what she walked on was constantly bobbing up and down or spinning round. She was very nimble and sure-footed during her feeding forays. Not once did I see her use her wings to help maintain balance.
I probably felt more motion sick just watching her, than she did 'raft riding'!
