I went to a funeral,
Lord it made me happy,
Seeing all those people,
I ain't seen,
Since the last time,
Somebody died,
- Lyle Lovett

I have recently been digitizing old photographs for my parents, and came across this image. I have no idea who the people were or why they were gathered so. I can only guess for a funeral or family reunion maybe. They have all been long since laid in their own graves, but this photo was so intriguing that I just had to share it.

As a consolation for getting old, i.e. a milestone birthday with too many miles behind it, my wife and I spent a long weekend at the Waldorf Astoria in the Big Apple. This was the view from our room on our first morning. It was a nice consolation....oh yeah, the hotel was nice too.
