Snow is in the forecast for next week, though it now looks a bit downgraded, so I am not sure if the third patch of garden will get planted before next weekend. For now, about 170 linear feet of crop will have to do. Yep, that is a little patch of snow still trying to melt off to the right in the shadow of the fence.

Another seventy linear feet of garden got planted this morning, including potatoes, peas, and onions. I’m sticking my neck out a bit with respect to planting the potatoes this early. Obviously I am hoping for a warmer than usual spring because our last frost date occurs after mid-May.

Year four, and covering freshly sown carrots with wet cardboard hasn’t failed me yet. Wet snow is in the forecast, but hopefully that will all be finished before the carrots emerge. Soil temperature about six inches deep is currently about 40F, so nothing will be growing very fast.

Today, Donut Bunny’s tumour was shaved to allow me to apply some flamazine (silver sulfadiazine) medicated cream. Yeah, I’m not squeamish but I certainly do not like the look of this nor the obvious prognosis. Never mind the external tumour, what is going on internally and travelling via his lymphatic system. Sadly, Donut’s days now appear to be very numbered…

Donut Bunny’s lymphoma has manifested as multiple external tumours. Four weeks after surgical removal of the first, this one emerged and that terrible feeling set in. Last night, just hours before today’s vet visit, I discovered three more small tumours. For now he is eating, playing, and behaving like his normal self—though that could change very, very suddenly.
