I rarely get to see swans swimming in water here so when I saw many in a flooded field this weekend in Skagit County I jumped at the chance to photograph them.

It was nice to see so many beautiful Tundra Swans in Nome. They were in huge flocks and very skittish, as were all the ducks and geese I saw. This is due to being heavily hunted. Climate Change is really affecting the Inupiaq people up in the arctic now, including their ability to continue subsistence hunting.

This little cygnet was hitching a ride on his mom's back. He was part of a recently hatched brood of 7 Mute Swan cygnets at Ambleside Park pond in West Vancouver. These adorable cygnets felt safe in their mothers wings as up to 5 of them at once were on her back.

I love these gorgeous natural residents. I never get over how large they are! this male was stunning! I have been watching this same wild swan for the last 7-8 years!
