Today I got to see a Brown Booby off the south jetty at Iona Regional Park. This bird was first found by Dan Pontalti and Grant Edwards on Sept 21st. It was refound by Rick Zapf on Sept 29th and then my friends and I got to see it today. This is only the second record for Vancouver and the 18th for BC. It was a new BC bird (#434) for me as well. It is pretty cool to have a twitchable Brown Booby visible from land in my own hometown. I hope it stays for awhile for many to see it.

We saw 3 Brown Boobies in La Jolla. They were sitting under the Cave Store on the La Jolla Cliffs. We found 2 adult females and this juvenile. I was shooting down on him as he never came up any closer and the adults were even further down.

This is an ABA Code 3 Bird and a really cool bird to see in North America!

This photo was taken during Tim Boyer's Photo Workshop for San Diego Shorebirds.

The largest colony nests here at Kilauea Lighthouse NWR. They are stunning birds and remind me a bit of Gannets. I loved to watch them fly by my head. This is truly one of the coolest spots in Hawaii to see seabirds. These guys come in light and dark morph. I saw both colour morphs but light morph is far more common.
