Was cool to see this guy singing his heart out in the barren desert. Never had such good views of this species before.

This Northern Mockingbird was loving the Algerita Berries. This desert plant is really prickly and painful to the touch but the birds don't mind it. He was gulping them down. He almost ate the whole stem he was standing on! These birds are among the most common you see all over Texas but I never tire of them. I love their mimicking calls and pretty songs and they look pretty wonderful too. Of all the birds I shot this common thrasher on this berry tree may just have been my favourite to watch. The Northern Mockingbird is the State bird of Texas.

Taken in Texas Hill Country (My favorite part of TX)

I saw Bendire's, Le Conte's and Crissal Thrashers during my trip but Curve-billed Thrashers were by far the most common Thrasher I encountered. This bird has a slightly deformed bill.
